"there was no room for them in the inn"
Luke 2:7

Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?'  Matthew 18:33

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
  Matthew 5:7

"Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"  The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."  Luke 10:36-37

We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.  If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.  Romans 12:6-8

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
James 3:17

When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'  "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'   Matthew 25:39-40

Current Pressing Needs

  • driver training help - We need someone to help with driver training.  If you own a driver training school, or work for one, or know someone who does, we need your assistance!  One of our girls could be working right now if she had a driver's license.
  • transportation to/from medical appointments - We also need people who are willing to transport girls to and from medical appointments.

Other Ways You Can Always Help

  • be a friend to one of our girls - This can mean hanging out on Saturday night, asking her to join your bible study, being her "friend on the inside" at a brand new school, helping her to be excited about her new baby, being "Mom", being "Sis", or just going shopping with her.
  • join our team - We are always looking for new people excited about our cause.  We generally have meetings on the first Friday of every month, and welcome you to sit-in on any of these.  You can join our team either by becoming a permanent member on our board, or simply by being one of those many generous people who are always there for us and our girls.
  • donate your time - Our girls are often without transportation, and greatly appreciate it when people help them out with rides.  They also obviously appreciate BABY-SITTERS!
  • donate supplies and furniture for our girls and their children - we keep our basement stocked with all types of things our girls need for themselves and their children... things like diapers, baby formula, high chairs, changing tables, baby clothes, maternity clothes... the list goes on and on, but you get the idea.  Note that the girls oftentimes need to take many of the furniture items with them when they leave, so we need to be continually replenished with such items.
  • get your church involved - Local churches are our life blood.  Local churches are typically the key to providing every other item on this list, either directly or indirectly.  They are the source for our most valuable human resources, and provide us with regular monetary donations to help with our ongoing expenses.
  • help with transitional housing - finding a suitable place for each girl to move to (after their 1-year stay here) has been a repeated challenge.  If you can help with affordable housing, we would love to hear from you.  The girls live at Mary's House for only one year, which is too short a time for them to obtain subsidized housing.  Even if they apply when they first come to Mary's House, the list is long, so we frequently need a place for a new mother and her baby to live while waiting for housing.  If your children are grown and their bedrooms are empty, or if you have an unoccupied in-law suite, please consider letting us know.  Of course, after meeting the young mother, you have time to "think it over" before committing.
